The top does not lock into place. It has a little plastic piece that you can pull up. Not airtight. Very disappointed with this order

These are so much better than OXO. It does not break like the OXO when my 6 year old drops it when helping in the kitchen. They have passed the kid rough- handling test. It also fits seemlessly with all my other kitchen products.
