Poorly designed and grossly overpriced for what it is.
At this price, one would expect perfect craftsmanship. Instead, the block is rather crudely put together and its corners are sharper than a conscientious craftsperson would be happy with.
Furthermore, the knife-holding magnets -- concealed under the visible wood surface -- do not cover much area of each slot. Consequently, the capacity of this large knife block is much less than it would have more efficiently been, had the designer properly maximized the materials that are already there.
My wife understandably objects to both the height and areal size of the block.
Overall from my perspective, having lived in Italy as a child, I consider this knife block to be a rare embarrassment to Italian design and craftspeople.
