It is a nice looking clock and it functioned well when it arrived. However, it is not silent and you can hear it ticking from far away. Not sure if ours was defective or not, but the ticking was very apparent. So, even with the silent mode on and the quiet hours of operation, I would not recommend it for a bedroom or any quiet room. We had to return it.

Oh I love it.. and you can either turn the volume down or completely off (silent), for the cuckoo bird hourly song.. but it is so pleasant and unoffensive, you may want to hear it.
