Other reviewers are right: you can see through this lampshade slightly. Not to the very light bulb. But the fabric appears textured. I like it. I didn't love the way it screwed on at first. The attaching hardware, its hole, is way too big for my lamp's base and wobbled and looked crooked. But I figured it out.

It's a nice shade and is as pictured. When lit, it is washed out more than other black shades we have, which was disappointing, meaning the liner is thinner than the others. We are keeping the shade none the less.
