From the pictures it appears to be metal but it's not it's plastic. Mine arrived broken and I'm waiting on customer service. (***UPDATE***) Wayfair customer service reached out to the vendor, and the vendor and I exchanged some pictures and emails, and a new one was shipped out immediately. The new one arrived perfectly, and looks lovely in my foyer.

Absolutely love it! I've had a lantern on my front porch for years. For 12 years living in SC and now in DE. But it needed to be replaced and I'll now be able to enjoy my new one from Wayfair. As soon as the weather will allow me to put porch furniture in place I'll be enjoying the ambiance from my new Alpine lantern.
