This lamp replaced one that also had the arches that helped the light be over my recliner. I did not read the description carefully enough as the lamp comes with a switch about a yard above the floor that dims the bulbs. The bulbs that came with it are specifically for that dimming switch, a clear Edison-type style. This dimming precludes my use of smart bulbs in place of the bulbs that were included. During the long nights in winter and I like different light fixtures to come on and go off as I program them. The light is pleasant and the dimming is useful when I am working on something on my lap while we watch television. I do wish the arms that hold each of the three lights were more moveable. The weighted base does keep the lamp from pitching over and is more efficient and useful than the lamp it replaced.
