The cord comes out of the lamp neck, so it is exposed down the entire body of the lamp. The on/off switch is four feet down the cord which makes it sort of an awkward foot switch. If there had been any indication of these flaws in the description on the website, I would never have ordered it. It came in such tight styrofoam packing that I can never hope to get it back in the box to return it. Buyer beware.
