Perfect drop fan from my shiplap vaulted ceiling

I ordered a ceiling fan with light kit. I’ve installed several ceiling fans. After installing the fan(it was a replacement for a ceiling fan) the fan would not come on. The light kit worked. I rechecked all the wiring even using a volt meter and determined the fan motor to be defective. I contacted Wayfair and they immediately sent me another fan. I installed fan no.2 exactly as i had the first and it’s functioning as I expected.
