The ceramic base of these lamps is good: solid and reasonably heavy. However the base is skinny like a vase, so I think it could be knocked over by a cat or a careless swipe of the hand. The lamp shades are velcroed together so they can be shipped or stored flat. It gives the lamp shade a nice side and a less nice side. I keep the lamps against the wall in the bedroom. I wouldn’t put these lamps in the middle of the room because of the ugly Velcro seam.
