I had one of the old halogen like this exact design. I love that you could turn the brightness up and down with the switch. Without digging into it too much. I thought these were the same.... The quality is about the same. But this is just a regular light.Socket you screw in a bulb. You cannot change the brightness of the light. One of them was perfect, and the other one had ripples in the top.You can see in the pictures. Disappointed

These lamps are sleek and gorgeous. I especially like the bluish green accent color on the torch.

Just wish it was halogen but overall satisfied
