There is a series of holes in the lamp head itself, which emit light when the fixture is on; that is somewhat distracting. Also the brown staining of the legs is really thin and scratches easily.

This is a pretty cool piece. Its really more decorative than it is functional. Yes it does throw light, but its really more ambient light. Worth the price. Easy to assemble. Really happy with the purchase.
