So to be fair, once installed they're really beautiful. The reason I gave these just two stars is that the quality control and out of box "readiness" is abysmal. I spent 20 plus minutes getting the hinges to loosen up with wd40 and then cleaning it off the rest of the lamp. While they are nice they are not in line with my expectations of 180 dollar lamp at all. I anticipate that the hinges would fail quickly if these were moved around a lot.
