These sconces will be hardwired, so I didn't need the on/off switch. Because the two joints articulate 180 degrees, I can install them opposite each other so that the adjustment screws are each toward the outside of the fixture by inverting one of the bases (one would have the on/off switch on the bottom, and the other would have it on the top out of rerach). They are a pretty good size so the space must be large enough to accomodate their scale. I like the design because it mimics the Hinkley dome pendants in the kitchen.
