The lamp base is rich looking and the ceramic has a woven like texture. I agree with the other reviewer that the shade placement is very low so I also purchased a longer lamp harp so that the position of the shade is higher.

The base is chunky which gives this a more swanky look.

These arrived and were carefully packaged (not a chance they could become damaged) and appear well made. I think they are prettier than photos were able to communicate. All that was problematic is that the shade stand that was included was too small and so shade fell too far down on base. I had to buy two larger ones so that the shade fell to correct placement.
