I ordered this light fixture months ago for the casual dining room in our new home, and we finally installed it. It was definitely a 2-person job to install and is one of those things where you wish you had four hands or owned a cooperative pet octopus to hold everything. As for the design, we weren't planning to use all of the available length for each pendant, but we didn't want to cut off the excess wire, either, in case we ever decided to extend them later. There was enough room to wind up the excess wire under the base plate, but we had to tape it down inside the base to prevent the wire from covering up the four holes for the mounting screws. It was difficult enough to see those holes and line up all four on the mounting screws. Whew! Once we finally got it mounted, it looked great. Pro tip: Be sure you experiment with the length of each pendant and have someone hold up the fixture to get a look at it before you actually mount it. Once it's up, you really don't want to take it back down to make any adjustments! But the quality is very nice and we love the look. We bought the coordinating Levona pendants for our kitchen island (although those are larger - just fyi).
