The glass is layered, white layer inside is diffusing the light evenly. My only confusion was that the shade is just placed on top and there's no screws to keep it place. The light bulb i guess serves that part. I placed it upside down because it's more secure ( I have a curious cat) and this way I avoid much dust as well. Other than that nicely made sconce that looks expensive!
