I really wanted to like this. The magnet is not that strong. I have (had) it on a clean lathe bed ways. It's clean steel and a good magnet should stick. It doesn't take much effort to dislodge this light and that won't do for me. I have to be able to bend my light as I need it. It does have a long neck but the light housing uses a lot of that space, like way too much space. It's not really that bright either. I've just gone back to my old magnet light because this is worthless for my needs.
