It was listed as 5.5 inch diameter and nowhere in the description could I find that it was intended for a 4 inch can. Most of the 6 inch can lights say 5/6 inch so it leads you to believe that the 5.5 inch listing is for a 6 inch can. But that is inaccurate. They do not fit a 6 inch can.
