I’ve had other cordless table lamps, and the Modern Table Lamp surprised me in a few ways.
First, it has a very weighty base. This makes sense given that you can add additional poles to it to make it a small floor lamp. It takes up more room on a dining table or side table than I wish it did, but I worry less about it being knocked over. (The other cordless lamps I’ve had all stopped working eventually after being tipped over too many times.)
Second, the top secures to the pole using a magnet. This feels really neat and allows you to tilt the shade and direct light exactly where you want it. The downside is that it feels a bit less secure than it would if permanently connected.
The charging port is in the shade, which keeps this from being a good “permanent” lamp. If it’s in floor lamp mode, the cord is nowhere near long enough to reach an electrical outlet. So the lamp shade must always be removed to be charged, which is awkward. There is a small rubber cover for the charging port, but it won’t stay in place; I’ll be removing that entirely.
The finish is a very even, white powder-coating. The light can be changed from cool to warm, and can be dimmed by long-pressing the power button. Mine arrived with a good amount of charge ready, and it has lasted multiple days without needing to be charged.
Overall, I think this is such a versatile, sturdy light, and a good value. But with the charging awkwardness and the overly large base, it isn’t quite the cordless table lamp I was looking for.. Emily. Snohomish, WA. Thu Mar 12 2026
