I’m very impressed with the quality of this umbrella, especially for the price point. I purchased it during a pretty deep summer sale, and it feels and looks much more expensive than what I paid.
Assembly was extremely simple. I already had an appropriate umbrella base, so all I needed to do was screw the upper portion of the umbrella onto the lower pole and use the hand crank to open it. The crank operates very smoothly, and I like that I can control how far I want the umbrella opened. The tilt feature is also really useful for adjusting the shade as the sun moves throughout the day.
I especially like the protected, blunt ends on the canopy. They feel much safer than umbrellas that have exposed spokes sticking out, and the end caps seem sturdy and like they should hold up well over time. Despite being a very large 9-foot umbrella, the upper portion is surprisingly lightweight while still feeling sturdy and well made. I also appreciate the closure strap for securing it when it’s not in use. Another nice feature is that I can easily unscrew and remove the upper portion if I want to bring it inside during inclement weather or store it for a while.
My only hesitation when I first opened it was the color. I ordered the black and ivorycream stripe, and indoors the lighter color looked surprisingly yellow—almost like a pale yellow rather than the ivory or off-white I was expecting. I actually considered returning it. However, once I set it up outside in natural sunlight, it looked completely different. From underneath especially, the lighter stripe reads much more like an ivoryoff-white, and I’m very happy I decided to keep it.
It looks incredibly classy in our backyard and gives the space almost a high-end resort feel. The black and ivory works beautifully with our existing black and white outdoor accents, and I paired it with Adirondack chairs I also recently purchased from Wayfair.
Most importantly, it provides a TON of shade. I’m using it today in intense 90 degree heat, and the difference underneath it is significant. It provides excellent coverage and protection from the sun and makes the area much more comfortable to actually enjoy.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with this purchase and think it’s an excellent value, especially at the sale price. I like it enough that I’m considering ordering another one for a different area of our backyard.
