These are really great for hanging lighter things from a railing. We have a TREX system, so our railings are strong plastic. If you have a vinyl or anything other than wood, you will need something to put on the top and bottom of the clamps. It will dig into your railing. Once I dialed this small issue in, the pole works great for me. I hang a hummingbird feeder and wind chimes from mine.

I had to secure them on the inside of my deck but the hook can rotate and adjust so it wasn’t an issue. Stable, and secure. No bending. I even have a glass humming bird feeder on one and no issues. Good purchase.
