Didn’t work for us! Very heavy duty!

I would say it's just ok. Using it as a deterrent to keep dogs from going down deck stairs. Stairs are about 7 feet wide so I could not find a traditional gate to place there and this is more of a deterrent than a barrier due to its length. I'm sure it would be great for an awning as designed. Metal cylinder is very thin and the color is closer to green than grey. Mounting is a challenge as the stationary pole that awning clips to does not have a way to stop it from rotating once the awning is clipped to it. Ended up drilling a screw into deck post that I can hook the awning to. Not the worst product, just don't expect to get more than what you paid for

The awning has a very strong retraction spring . You must be careful of the angle when pulling out or retracting the shade so that it does not get bound up or wrinkled on the roller. Small children should not operate. Also, the vertical pole (where you connect the awning after extension), is round. I think it would be better if it had edges. We tried to just attach that pole to one of our steel deck railing posts with wire ties, but the whole pole spins around, making the screw (for which to hook on the handle of the shade when extended) be in the wrong place. When we mounted the pole using the stand provided, we had to put screws into the floor of our decking, which is ok, and it held the round pole from spinning well. However, since there is only one screw protruding for connecting the extended handle of the awning, and that welded screw is off-center vertically. Maybe this is so you don't have to bend down far? I don't know, but it seems stupid, because when you hook on the extended shade, the top and bottom edges of the extended shade can waver back and forth and don't stay steady. It's just O.K. Not great. it would be better to have two attachment places, or at least have it in the center vertically. So far our old dog as not tried to push his way beneath the extended shade (which would be easy to do for an energetic dog). With only one off-center attachment location, it's kind of unsteady. The design, for this reason, could be better.

Excited about this purchase, as it appears to be solution I was seeking in creating a 3rd privacy screen for an outdoor RV shower. Retro fitting it to a stationary 2-wall pvc privacy screen, this allows for unabated access to rv storage bay that sits right below outdoor shower. When shower in use, all I do is pull the screen out. Total cost of project is less than half compared to purchasing a full pvc shower stall with swinging gate door and again, gives me free and clear access to storage when shower not in use.

Couldn’t figure out a way to install this without it being flimsy
