This base is not as good as my Proshade model which was very similar in price. The main problem is with the stem. The product description says that it is suitable for a 1.5" pole. My pole (as is standard for many patio umbrellas) is 1.49". Even tightened as far as it will go with the supplied 1.5" reducer, the pole is loose, wobbly and can even be easily pulled straight up out of the stem. I had to add a thin rubber strap and tape to the pole to increase its diameter so that it would be stable. Also, the stem tends to wobble in the wind. Not the best product for the price.
