I bought this feeder because of its large seed holding capacity and also because the feeding ports are only located at the bottom, rather than at multiple heights like most feeders, so I don't have to fill it daily. The top is easy to slide up for ease of filling. I like that the individual perches are spring-loaded to close port access if a weighty rodent (we have large wood rat problems, not squirrel problems) gets onto the perch. Previously, I had a squirrel-proof feeder that had one continuous perch wrapped around the bottom, which allowed many birds to feed, but the issue with that was, so many birds could fit on it, that it would actually get weighed down, triggering the spring-loaded port closure, so the birds couldn't feed. I was so happy to have found this one with individual spring-loaded perches! It's a good quality feeder. Unfortunately, when I took this pic, a neighbor cat was lying in wait at the feeders, so no birds were brave enough to be present on the feeder.

This feeder works as designed to feed small birds and keep squirrels out. It has a simple hook for hanging, which, in my experience means raccoons can just knock the whole thing down and eat the spilled seed from the ground. When filling it, you have to be very careful that all the seeds go into the inside tube because if they get between the tube and the outer cage, they can get in the way of the spring mechanism. Sturdy, metal parts. Seems like it would be difficult to clean. Update it doesn’t seem to close when large birds (see pic) land on it.

Love this feeder, made well and is sturdy. Great fit for bird feeding! Would purchase again!

Great bird-feeder!! The squirrels aren’t happy however… they can’t get to the food. No worries, they have their own squirrel feeder.

Just as advertised.
