Perfect for my herbs

I really liked the look of this bed, but I didn’t take into account the fact that it’s made of fir rather than cedar so I’m going to have to come up with a food, safe treatment for the wood to keep it from rotting in a short time. The boards are relatively thin and not very substantial so I don’t expect them to last more than a season maybe two. I also had to cut some pieces of scrap wood fir trim to screw in to support the fronts of the middle and top sections. The slats just slid right through without the added supports (see pictures). In retrospect I wish I had chosen a different type of planner, but I really liked the tiered look of this one for my location and available space.

This does require a srew driver and mallet. The wood is thin I expected itto be a little thicker.

Looks like the picture and I hope my herbs will look like that, too. I'm wondering if I should varnish it or somehow protect it from the elements???

I am so happy with my purchase. I looks great! It didn't take me too long to assemble and I actually decided to use the top 2 tiers separately from the bottom tier-which I loved to have as an option! My vegetables are already starting to grow and I can't wait to plant a few pumpkins separately in the larger, bottom bed.
