Got this on a Labor Day Sale for just around a hunnerd. As always, very happy with WAYFAIR service and shipping. We are ok with it. It has a relatively small footprint. Made in China. Seems to have a secure gas line. We like the open-ish design of the body, all mechanisms seem to work well, one month in. It has a flat "lid" to set on top and also a (fairly thin) cover is provided to shield from elements. Those be the 'pro's'. Here are 'Cons' 1) Glass Rocks/Beads: We had to immediately REMOVE the glass rocks it comes with. They look awful, but also they heat and "POP!" loudly... haven't had one eject itself out of the pit (that I am aware of), but that cracking sound is an indicator of a problem with those glass beads not being sturdy enough to take the heat. We replaced the glass with Grill Pro LAVA ROCKS (2x 7lb bags) available on this site. Not only a far better look (see pics) but also safer. We also added some ceramic faux logs (see pic) because we were craving just a slightly more authentic vibe (I mean, I know, but...) We got the 6 piece Ceramic decorative logs on this site (will try to review separately) (just know that the biggest log of the 6 is far too large for this pit). An EXTRA hunnerd bux in... we like the look a bit better now. ALSO: 2) COLOR: The 'brown' color is... well, if you have ever cared for an infant child... a sick puppy... or... well. It is the exact shade of that substance which is emitted (sometimes at high velocity) out the business end of a highly disturbed GI-tract. We painted over the color with some darker Rustoleum spray paint we had on hand in a less offensive shade of brown. Ten bucks. Add that to the running tally of "fixes" that were required. 3) Propane use: We have never used this on anything higher than the "LOW" setting (keep it lower in high wind zones). It blows through a full 20lb propane tank in an evening of entertaining. I'm actually officially setting a clock to determine, and will update this review when I have an exact number of hours that it uses up a full tank. It's not very efficient; keep extra tanks on hand. Keep that in mind if you are planning on "sharing" a tank between a BBQ and this thing. (Um, don't). TLDR: So, sure, it works, and we are not unhappy with it. (I mean, it's not like you are going to ship this thing back after receiving it... the box is enormous). Be fore-educated! You are welcome. :-) REMINDER: The LAVA ROCKS and faux LOGS are NOT INCLUDED! They are extra.
