tldr: Structurally unsound. A slat on the seat broke the second time I sat in it, when I stood up. These chairs looked nice from a distance on my patio. I really like the design and finish, which is why I bought them. Unfortunately, they are marred with issues. The main issue is that the seat broke when I stood up. The second big issue is that they are pretty uncomfortable. They force you to sit very upright. The backs need a little curvature to them. My dining room chairs are more comfortable. These chairs are not for lounging. There were were also a number of defects in the finish where the wood clearly had received some stress or strain. It was scraped in places and discolored in others. Had I kept them, I would probably consider re-finishing, which is a shame because that's why I bought them. There was no sign of damage to the seat before use, and I am not that heavy (175 lbs). The wood is very light and I think that they are just not very strong. This is just plain a design defect.

the first one was damaged - the replacement was damaged -- very cheaply made

Arrived with small cracks, pulled out screws, scratches. I decided it was easier to fix than it would be to repackage and return. As I then attempted to assemble I began to regret my decision. Holes slightly off, poorly drilled holes, inadequate assembly instructions. It was a frustrating experience. And what do I get after finally get it together? A mediocre piece of furniture that I doubt will hold up. From a distance it looks fine, but I wanted a bench that gets used often, not a garden decoration.
