This pergola does a good job of protecting from the sun and cooling down the atmosphere.it also helps to keep pesky bugs away! It took about 3 hours to assemble with only one person. Although the instructions could have been more clearer, it wasn’t too difficult to assemble. It looks pretty and exactly as it was advertised online. However, I did order the larger twelve by ten feet pergola but it was not the size I received. I had my concrete slab measured and then installed a concrete pad according to the measurements provided online. This is because my patio’s concrete slab was too small for it and the pergola must be installed onto a leveled foundation. However, while installing the pergola, we noticed it was too short about two feet. It measured ten by ten feet. Since it isn’t a very large and heavy pergola, we were able to just purchase a concrete pad to install it onto. It seems pretty sturdy and holds up well. Overall, I do recommend this pergola for anyone looking to add a stylish addition to their backyard. It is low maintenance and a quick one day project. It provides good protection from the sun while keeping bugs away. Although I received the smaller size, it is still large enough to accommodate a dining table with seating for six people. Appearance wise, it looks very pretty, exactly as advertised online. It is a modern look with the matte black and beige shade. It is neutral to most decor and easy to blend with patio furniture.

Pergola assembly is time consuming at over 2 hours with 2 people. The packaging of the parts was very nice and well marked. The instructions were limited and had no descriptions only pictures. The steps did not include pertinent information such as where the angle bracing/support holes needed to be when you assembled the main uprights and top rails. It didn't specify that the mounting holes for the crossmembers need to be on top either. If someone isn't savvy my guess is they would have to take the thing apart a time or two to correct errors they made since there is no written instructions and the pictures don't show these details at each step. You can determine where the angle bracing mounting holes need to be by looking a few pages into the manual to an illustration that shows the angle braces mounting on the inside of the legs and upper crossmembers, but it would be nice if this was detailed in the beginning. it would have been nice to include some sort of torque specification for how tight to tighten the fasteners as well. The material is thin and hollow so it collapses/bends easily when you are tightening bolts so you have to use your eyes to determine tightness versus using your hand and judging based on how hard it is to turn. Definitely not the most robust materials and I would expect it to last only a few years. Maybe longer if you remove the cover when not in use. One thing that is nice is you can pull the cover to the ground on one end or the other giving you a privacy wall, wind block, or rain block. It also allows you to walk under the other end. Wind rating is a concern, and the top may rip off as the fasteners are not reinforced. The Velcro straps remain loose though so wind will most likely move the top around. If it is strong enough I am sure the little Velcro straps will come loose or tear.

It was good for the price. Husband set it up with no problem. You just need to make sure you take the canopy down if you are expecting rain, because the rain water will collect and make the canopy sag.

Not heavy duty. Impossible to use cover in any wind at all. DO NOT waste your time or money.
