I had high hopes for this retractable pergola. I’ve always wanted one for over our hot tub. It is definitely a 2 person assembly. The reason I took a couple of stars away is mostly due to the quality of the crossbars. The pieces are a bit flimsy and seemed to be easily bent, which you can see on one crossbar in the pictures. It was also missing a small piece so we needed to request it. It’s great that the sun shade has an spf, and the material doesn’t seem like it will get mildew or gross like some of the other versions. That said, the blue color is a lot brighter in person than it seemed to be online.

This is a great pergola if you have limited backyard space and want more shade sometimes, and more sun sometimes. I love that it’s retractable! It easily slides open or closed and is more stable than I thought it would be. The assemble instructions were wonky though. Just assemble the top first then put on the legs. You will need help!
