Because the cast iron grill accepts high heat and is reversible, it's great for the final steak searing. Used in the lower level of the two tier system, a steak and also be set on its edge, fat-side-down, leaning against a normal grate in the upper portion allowing the fat to render and flame up over the entire piece of meat for a nice "caveman" style sear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been on a kick lately grilling fresh corn and burgers. The cast iron grate works well - grabs the heat, sears well, and is easy to clean (better than the stainless grates). I highly recommend it,
