I'd imagine the stainless steel will stay nice and rust free for many, many years. The best thing about this gate kit is that it's made with Stainless Steel, which not only looks good, but it's also durable and strong. I've been using this kit for about 6 weeks now, and it still looks new. This kit is everything you'll need for a simple gate, with great quality at a great value.

The hinges are smooth without any evidence of binding when opening or closing. The gate latching mechanism strongly secures the gate. I tried pushing and pulling on the gate aggressively to try to get the lock to fail, but it held on strong. Overall, I'm pleased with the gate kit.

I used the kit on a six foot by four foot gate made of 2x6s with a metal fencing inset. These are sturdy hinges that have been working beautifully. The latch is easy to use and the whole thing looks good too. I'm very happy with this gate kit.
