As others have stated, this latch is designed so that when installed, the outside thumb latch pushed through a hole in the gate with no way to keep it secured. Could have been as simple as drilling holes and including a cotter pin.

What's the deal with the thumb lever being unsecured. It can be removed or fall from the assembly. The installation video just glazes over this fact. Very poor design. Two other reviewers have the same issue. Nonfunctional product without aftermarket Macguyvering. I do not recommend this product.

I like the look and function of this hardware, but after installing I encountered a problem. Every time the gate closes hard, the thumb lever flies off onto the ground! I'm not sure how to keep it attached to the door.

Nowhere on the package does it say that it is for in-swinging gates only. The confusing instructions mention in-swinging and out-swinging so we assumed it worked for both right up until I read the answer to question 1 on your Q&A. Very deceptive.
