I ordered a cantilever umbrella that had a metal X base which couldn't support the weight of the umbrella so I ordered this to hold it in place. It took about $15-20 worth of sand from the local hardware store to fill it up. For me the base is SO bulky though. Perhaps this isn't something that can be avoided due to the nature of the item and the weight it needs to compensate for but it takes up a lot of space so just make sure you plan for that. I put pots of flowers on it to try to blend it into the space. I don't know if it did anything though lol.

I ordered this 4-piece umbrella base because I did not trust the longevity of the vinyl sand bags provided with my cantilever umbrella. I love that this set has a recession to fit these types of bases, but can be moved in separate pieces more conveniently. The base is made from a basic black plastic, and I would guess is injection molded. (There is a seam visible on the side, and all four pieces had an object inside, which I believe is probably from the cutting of the screw cap hole.) I tested them out with water on a flat umbrella base I am using and wanted to add some additional weight to, before assessing if I should reallocate the sand I have. (A funnel will be a necessity for this.) They are still quite heavy with water only, though the screw cap is fairly cheaply made, and I do wonder if they might leak over time. The pieces look much better than the vinyl fabric cover of my cantilever base, but I will say given the listed price, I expected them to be more attractive and durable looking.
