The spacing in the table top pieces is large (some are more than 1/2 inch.) The pieces are stained, but not sealed - so if you want to protect it against staining, you'll want to clear coat all the pieces before assembly. You cannot fit a standard 1 - 1/2 inch 9ft umbrella pole through the bottom supports (see photo) I had to drill out a bit with a 1 and 1/2 inch bit to fit the pole down.

We love it, very light wood, just had damage of water penetration to the box and affected the wood.

It's solid and well put together but if you are counting on 8 people, they better be small people!.

Love the look however it is a little unstable. I don't think it will last many years.
