A day or two after my 10 x 10 (not 10 x 20) pergola arrived, I compared the parts in the box with the instruction manual and everything appeared to be in order. However, upon commencing the assembly of the pergola, things began to go south. With three of the four vertical columns of the pergola, I experienced problems with connecting the two parts which made up the column. In each of the three cases, the two parts would not fit together because of minor deformities. With the help of a friend and some special tools, each of the three columns was satisfactorily put together by pounding/reshaping the ends so that they would fit together. So that problem was solved. Next, the top piece of one of the columns had two holes used to attach the bracket which connects this vertical column to the horizontal cross piece. One of the two holes was drilled as an oval instead of a circle so that no screw could be used to help attach the bracket to the column. The third issue related to the two horizontal bars which provide the main support for the canopy. Each of the two horizontal bars is made up of two pieces. One piece screws into the other to form the completed bar. One of the bars was put together within seconds. The second bar would not screw together. Despite again working with my friend to try to bring the two pieces together with no gap, and spending close to an hour, we succeeded in only reducing the gap from one inch to about one-half inch. The consequence of this gap is that, when using the magnitized wand to close the canopy, the wand always separated from its magnetic contact whenever the canopy tried to pass over the gap in the bar. Thus the opening and closing of the canopy had to always be completed by hand thus negating the purpose of the wand in assisting with the closing of the canopy. I communicated all of these problems with a very nice lady named Sonia using multiple emails and providing photos of each of the issues. Sonia responded to each of my emails in a very timely manner. Her emails back to me were in such detail that I knew she really understood the problems that I was describing. She kept me in the loop as to what she was trying to do to resolve my issues which, for my part, really only centered around trying to get replacement parts for the items causing me problems. In the end, Sonia/Wayfair sent me an entire new replacement pergola at no charge. While this experience had its frustrations, I have to say that Sonia and Wayfair went the extra mile to ensure that I ended up with the pergola that matched what I had seen in their advertisements. For that I am grateful and I am very pleased with how my pergola looks on our deck! Thank you!
