Dear Wayfair Customer Service,
I am writing regarding a serious safety issue with a children’s ride-on car that I purchased from Wayfair as a birthday gift for my child in January 2026.
In May 2026, approximately five months after the purchase, my child was riding the car in our driveway when it suddenly malfunctioned and began moving uncontrollably. My child was unable to properly control or stop the vehicle. Thankfully, she was in the driveway and not on the sidewalk or near the street when this occurred. Even more fortunately, there was a trash bin directly in front of the car that stopped it before it could continue moving.
Had this happened in a different location, my child could have entered the street, fallen from the vehicle, or been seriously injured. This was not simply a product that stopped working...it became an uncontrolled safety hazard while my child was operating it.
I have attached two videos documenting what occurred. Watching the incident was extremely upsetting for me as a parent, and it was also frightening and upsetting for my child. A children’s ride-on vehicle should never malfunction in a way that causes it to move uncontrollably, particularly when a child is operating it.
We purchased two of these cars from Wayfair. At this point, only one has malfunctioned, but because of what happened, I have not allowed my children to operate the second vehicle. I am now concerned about whether the other car has the same potential safety issue.
I am requesting that Wayfair take this matter seriously and provide an appropriate resolution, preferably a full refund for the malfunctioning vehicle. Given the nature of the malfunction and the potential for serious injury, I would also appreciate guidance regarding whether the second vehicle should be used at all.
This product lasted approximately five months before experiencing a dangerous malfunction. I do not feel comfortable allowing my child or any child, to operate a vehicle that has demonstrated the ability to move uncontrollably.
Please review the attached videos and let me know what steps Wayfair will take to address this safety concern and resolve this matter. I would appreciate a prompt response.
