Nice packaging...won't open until Christmas

I bought this for my baby and she likes it okay. She mostly wants to chew on the spikes. So do our dogs. We lost 3 spikes to the dogs and I went on to see if replacement spikes are available. Lo and behold a bunch of reviews talking about how this has been a problem for years and Learning Resources has yet to do anything about it! Way to take a plastic toy that is already disposable and make it impossible to pass on to someone else to enjoy! Very disappointed in the stance Learning Resources takes on contributing to plastic trash. If they were smart, they would sell replacement packs to make it so that babies can continue to enjoy this toy. Instead, they are asking consumers to replace the entire toy and line their pockets! I won't support a company with this disposable mindset.

Our 21 month old daughter absolutely loves Spike! He is durable whilst still being cute, friendly and fun. The bright, colourful quills are of a size and shape that is easy for her to grasp, and manipulate into the numbered slots. The numbers ensure that she will have a next stage to develop to once she has mastered the colours. During the time she has played with spike she has displayed an increase in her fine motor skills, patience and problem solving. It has also helped to develop her spatial awareness and hand eye coordination. As she is also learning to differentiate between her colours we have also introduced inserting the quills by selected colour, helping to develop her speech at the same time. Once the fun is over for the day the quills can be stored easily inside the body of the toy, minimising the storage area needed. Currently our favourite aspect of spike is the multi-coloured quills and the various games we have devised to help our little one learn. Overall this is a fun and interactive toy that our daughter thoroughly enjoys playing with.

My 14 month old picked up the skill of pulling out the spikes and putting them back in very quickly, he loves this toy. One complaint is that he also uses the spikes for teething and he has ruined every spike by chewing on them. I wish they were made of a sturdier material or that replacement spikes were available.
