The shelves are very deep, just what we needed! The wood is beautiful and they are very sturdy.

Seemed like a nice bookshelf for my child but the pieces didn't fit correctly. When I asked for replacement parts one piece arrived damaged and the sides/top/bottom still don't align properly so the back can be inserted. It might be a good bookshelf if I can ever get pieces that fit correctly, but at this point it seems poorly manufactured and it has been more trouble than it's worth.
