I read the reviews and info from this site on these as well as the makers website and other places they were sold. I'm pretty bummed that these are not anything close to non-slip. You could almost use it as a slip n slide with socks on. (Updated review after a almost a year of use.) These have actually held up decent. They can be poked moderate to easily if pressure applied by some items, like a broom stick or furniture with small legs. The top colored layer is like a plastic film applied to foam. If poked it can sometimes peel at the puncture site but doesn't spread. Out of 8 or so boxes purchased, there are a box or more worth of the squares that the film doesn't quite wrap all the way over the edge so you would either need to put them in areas under items or use them in corners or edges you won't see. Keep extra on hand in case you need to replace a square later. They dont all match up perfectly, but in the end over a large space you cant even tell unless you are looking for it. We had to replace 5 squares so far from punctures - one was from a 1/4" thick heavy piece metal, a putter golf club, a stool sat on, a nerf gun being pressed nozzle to floor, and just a careless mistake while installing other items. On the positive side, these are very comfy to stand on and do really look like wood floors at first glance once they are all in. These were put on a basement floor in a new build and surprisingly kept down the smell of the new cement chemical smells. They made the under the stairs closet area look really finished and the kids love to play there. These were used to make the basement look like a sports themed arena/court.
