Nice solid wood headboard that is a stand alone. Just need to have the mattress and box spring pushed up against it. We attached 2 sections of a 2x4 on the left and right side of the top back of the headboard to assist in keeping it standing upright. Once you put the headboard in place it will become clear what I am referencing regarding the wood placement. Love this piece and it gives the room a finished look.

Holes in headboard are not for a standard frame. They are for full wooden frame with under bed storage, which is not available to purchase. Now I need to either return the item or drill holes in a brand new product. The specs on the product do NOT let this be know to the purchaser.
