This filter stay away from. Makes water taste horrible. Once I removed it the 7 stage filter system worked great without this stage. ISpring should make a set of filters without the alkaline filter. This filter ruins the good work that 6 stages make.

I bought the 6 filter system with the alkaline filter. I flushed the filters and ran two tanks of water through it before drinking it. The water smelled and tasted horrible. I flushed out the lines and filters again. Then I drank water right out of the bottom three filters. The water was fine. In fact, I couldn't taste the sodium from our soft water with just the bottom 3 filters. Next, I drank water coming out of the system in its complete form. I was awful again. I then took the alkaline filter out of the system and the water tasted good and was odorless.

Great filter! It helps to add beneficial minerals back to my water and makes it taste better too!
