It's cute. It's a door hanger. As you can see from my photo, it hangs by a not very thick, what can qualify as a string from a door knob or I guess you could hang it also on a wall. It does not qualify to be called a scratcher post. Looking at it before I decided to purchase I thought that the material was heavier. This is very light so much so that I had to lay something over the scratchy part to make it hang flat. The reason I bought this is because my 1 year old cat is very energetic and loves to scratch and play with everything. He has this favorite place on the wall where he stretches and uses his claws and scratching at the same time removing the paint at the same time. I thought this would be big and heavy enough to hang in this spot to keep him from touching the wall. It's not. I have it hanging on my front door knob because it is cute. If you have a kitten it would be a good thing. For the cost though it doesn't work for us unfortunately.

My kitty loves it!

Excellent...the cat loves it
