I was a little disappointed with this book shelf. It is very sturdy though. I did not notice the 4 cut-outs on the top of the unit, and to be honest, if I had a would have assumed it would not be that way when finished. It looks unprofessional and sloppy. The bookshelf is solid and I will use it until I am able to find something I like.
