Excellent is exactly what I needed

As a professional carpenter with 35 years in the trade, here is my take on this door. It arrived fairly well-packaged with a protective film over it. However, once you strip that film off, you are hit with an intense chemical off-gassing smell from the finish. It has been 2 weeks since installation, and the room still smells like cheap, low-grade lacquer. Beyond the odor, the finish itself has visible flaws throughout. Honestly, the manufacturer would be far better off selling these plain primed so buyers can lay down a decent coat of paint themselves. Buyers should also know this is a slab door only—it doesn't come prep-machined or pre-hung. You have to buy your own jambs separately, mortise for hinges, and bore for hardware yourself. For someone without experience or the right jigs and tools, it’s going to be very labor-intensive. Structurally, it’s an engineered door, not solid wood. Overall, it’s an okay budget-tier option, but nowhere near premium quality. If I had to do it over again, I’d skip the hassle and buy a real solid wood door locally.
