This is a very weighty and substantial container. There are variations in color that are normal with this type of natural stone. However, there was a large stain on the lid that was very noticeable. After four days of using a baking soda and peroxide paste, most of it came off. But since some of it disappeared, that means it was a stain and not a natural part of the stone. (I attached pictures of the initial appearance and what it looked like after the treatment.) If you can get one without this issue, its a great piece.

We paired this with the travertine tray and it could not have been a better fit. Looks beautiful in our guest bathroom. It is heavy, well made and exudes those earthy and organic vibe. Serves as the perfect storage piece for our everyday essentials.
