Since Egon Schiele has been one of my favorite artists since I discovered his work back in my sophomore year of college, I was excited to add this reproduction of his work, Stylized Flowers in Front of Decorative Background, to my home. The large 40in. x60in. size makes it stand out nicely in my living room, while its color palette of muted purples, grays, creams, and golds give it a calming yet contemporary look without overwhelming the wall or the space around it. The canvas print itself is of excellent quality, and the three-dimensional illusion of a textured painting helps it look more like an actual painting instead of a basic poster print. It also came ready to hang, which was extra convenient. The only downside was that part of the wooden frame on the back arrived cracked near one of the corners (please see photos). You can’t really see it from the front once it’s hanging, but it was still disappointing to find damage right out of the box. I’m planning to repair it later with a little wood glue, so it doesn’t cause bowing of the wood frame. However, I’m particular about these things and, for most, the damaged wood is not severe enough to affect displaying it. Overall, it’s a beautiful piece of wall art from an often-overlooked artist, and aside from the minor frame damage, I’m happy with how it looks in my living room.
