I bought my place mats not for the table, actually they cover the backs of my chairs just right, I don’t want peoples hands touching the top of my chairs, these have a soft look on my chairs, I like them.

They're not extremely soft, but soft enough for cloth napkins (and I expect that they'll continue to soften when washed).
