This is a lovely piece of furniture with two tall bookcases and a mantel unit for the separate electric fireplace. It came in 4 heavy boxes with the fireplace in the fifth the next day. It was carefully packed to avoid damage. Most pieces are wood. The crown molding trim is MDF. It took several days to put together, but the directions were clear and easy to follow with cautions about not using the wrong length of peg where appropriate, for example. We appreciated the way the instructions were presented clearly with diagrams. We had to get help from some strong neighbors to stand it up after we had it all assembled. Most pieces fit perfectly and it was well engineered, but we had to drill a new hole for a screw in a couple places, especially on the crown molding at the top of the fireplace to get the corners to come together together perfectly. The shelves are sturdy and will hold our books and decorative items easily. The backing is a little loose in the support grooves, but we used some tape on the back to hold it in place a little more solidly after assembling it. The fireplace fit the opening well on the sides but was a little short at the top, allowing you to see the wall behind so we used a shelf board we had under the fireplace unit to raise it slightly. The “fire” has several color variations. It comes on automatically at the one we chose when it is turned on. It gives off some pleasant warmth. We have had many compliments on this fireplace and shelf unit. Overall, we are quite satisfied with it.

I love love love this wall unit!! It really looks like a built in. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the back of the bookcase shelves are individual pieces that are rather flimsy.

I cannot say enough good things about this insert. Never have I saw one unit with so many color variations! I love the timer so that it shuts itself off. I love the adjustable temperature from no heat to a lot of warmth. Its just a very nice unit!
