Spooky season is right around the corner, and I chose these ladies from The Twillery Co. to join our seasonal display. The three witches are all connected by their sleeves and the middle one has the battery box/motion sensor. (They cannot be separated from each other.) The battery compartment is in a stiff plastic weather resistant pouch, and it takes three AAA batteries– not included.
I noticed other reviews stating that the plastic poles are flimsy. Taking that into consideration, I proactively duct taped the poles together. The poles are under their cloaks so not noticeable. Another modification I did was shorten two of the witches…so it looks like a mama witch with two babies. Lowering the height of two witches on the outside and having enough distance in between each spook added stability. I think if I shortened all three of them, the display would be even more stable, but I like the height variance.
Other reviews of this item mention that the cackling is very loud. I do not find the volume excessive, but I do wish there were other features available. This display is either on (lighted heads with rotating colors and motion sensor cackles) or off. There is no timer option or no “lights only” feature.
A couple things I wanted to clarify about the photos of this spooky coven…this product includes the witches only (no pumpkins or cauldrons). Also, their hats are not nearly as tall and perky as the ones in photos. The hats on my witches seem particularly crushed from shipping. I anticipate that they will perk up with time, but they are considerably shorter than the ones shown.
There are a few features that could be better, but it is still a fun item. Looking forward to adding them to our collection of Halloween friends.
