I thought this "heavy-duty" dog crate would be perfect to keep my 60lb English Bulldog in while she's in heat ... purchased 2/6, delivered 2/8, opened and assembled 2/18. Unpackaging and assembly was difficult for lil' ol' me to do alone, as the crate weighs over 80lbs; but I managed to have it set up in about an hour, give or take.
It's now 3/5, and it's worked *almost* great so far ... at about 2 times longer and wider than my pup, it has plenty of space for her to lounge, eat and sleep, I love that the top opens to make her feel less caged in (and more available for love and pets while she's contained!), and it seems strong enough to keep our male dog at bay when we aren't mating them (so far).
HOWEVER ... the main reason I purchased this crate over the multitude of others that I looked at was for the wide slats at the bottom, and the fact that the plastic tray slips under that to catch messes. UNFORTUNATELY, the slatted bottom is only held up by small, poorly welded ... I'm not sure what to even call them, actually ... tiny platforms? Hangers? Bumps? ... my point is, they're insufficient to hold anything over 25lbs, I'd guess, and as of 2 days ago, I noticed that one has already bent so badly that the crate floor falls down onto the plastic tray at the corner now, rendering this item useless in exactly 2 weeks from it's first use ... possibly less than 2 weeks, as who knows how long it was bent and unnoticed before it finally let go.
I managed to pull the floor back up into place, but the piece can not be bent back to it's original spot, so I can't use it any longer and risk my pup being hurt.
I believe this crate was upwards of $350 ... Definitely NOT worth the use I got out of it. Not even worth the time it took to put together.
We'll see if Wayfair or the manufacturer can make it right...
In any case, the floor should be bolted in, not just floating in place. It didn't even fit in snugly, and was able to slide about while my pup was inside.
It's also incredibly loud to have the dog in, as no bed/mat stays in place, so her nails are always clicking; and when the top is raised, it will bang against the wall every time she moves if it's not anchored or padded.
